Additional Half Hitch is Necessary for Knot Tying in Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery: A mechanical testing Study
نویسنده
چکیده
INTRODUCTION: Orthopaedic surgeons have focused on improving the functional and structural outcomes of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and labral repair through the development of biomechanically superior surgical techniques such as double-row fixation, suture-bridge fixation, and compression double-row fixation. To obtain the maximum benefit from these repair techniques, secure knot tying is necessary. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanical characteristics of arthroscopic knots, focusing on the effect of tying additional reversed half hitches on alternating posts (RHAPs) during knot tying.

Validation of Different Combination of Three Reversing Half-Hitches Alternating Posts (RHAPs) Effects on Arthroscopic Knot Integrity
Introduction With arthroscopic techniques being used, the importance of knot tying has been examined. Previous literature has examined the use of reversing half-hitches on alternating posts (RHAPs) on knot security. Separately, there has been research regarding different suture materials commonly used in the operating room. The specific aim of this study was to validate the effect of different ...
متن کاملSimplified arthroscopic rotator interval capsule closure: an alternative technique.
The anatomy of the "coracoid eclipse" of the rotator cuff, the rotator interval, has been studied extensively. Its importance in shoulder stability with respect to inferior and posterior translation has been described. Historically, open repairs for instability indirectly addressed interval lesions and closure based simply on the definition of the deltopectoral approach with its subscapularis a...
متن کاملThe triad knot: a new sliding self-locking knot.
Tying secure knots is essential in arthroscopic surgery. A new slip knot for arthroscopic shoulder surgery is described. Locking of the knot is accomplished by pulling the post strand. Knot tying is simple and a low-profile, secure knot is produced.
متن کاملGlove tears during arthroscopic shoulder surgery using solid-core suture.
PURPOSE Surgeons have noticed an increased incidence of finger lacerations associated with arthroscopic knot tying with solid-core suture material. This study examines glove perforations and finger lacerations during arthroscopic shoulder surgery. METHODS We collected 400 surgical gloves from 50 consecutive arthroscopic shoulder repair procedures using No. 2 solid-core sutures. Two surgeons u...
متن کاملClinical results of arthroscopic bankart repair with knot-tying and knotless suture anchors.
PURPOSE To compare the results of arthroscopic Bankart repair completed with knot-tying with results of the procedure performed with knotless suture anchors. METHODS We evaluated 82 patients who underwent arthroscopic Bankart repair. A total of 61 patients were treated with knot-tying suture anchors, and 21 patients were treated with knotless suture anchors during the same period. In all, 75 ...
